Our Services

1. Farmer Services

We offer a range of services to support cocoa farmers and industry stakeholders in their efforts to improve the sustainability and yield of cocoa production. These services include:

Agronomic analysis

We use the latest scientific techniques and data to provide detailed analysis of the optimal actions farmers can take based on current weather patterns, including temperature and precipitation trends, soil moisture, hydric stress, harmattan monitioring

SUGGESTIONS for improved actions

Based on our analysis, we provide recommendations for farmers and industry stakeholders on how to optimize cocoa production based on current weather patterns.

Dynamic Cocoa Crop Calendar

These strategies include optimal timings for carrying out farmer actions such a fertilization, pruning, black pod spraying, replanting, etc.

Training and capacity building

Let’s work together!

If your objectives are to improve farmer livelihoods, reduce deforestation and/or increase climate resilience for farmers in West Africa, our FarmSmarter and FarmBetter programs can be customised to your field operations.

2. Trader Services

We provide production related analysis & commentary which helps industry actors get a better view on the state of the production cycle, and the impacts that current and forecasted weather variables may have on the development of cocoa production.

Pod PACK

You no longer have to invest in in-house scientific analysis! This is our bespoke service, co-created with our premium clients to help you outsource all your scientific analysis needs. Our climatology and agronomy research team have many years of experience focused on cocoa production, which you will be able to benefit from directly.

This service can include, but is not limited to, in-depth analysis and expert commentary on the current situation of climate and crop development, predictions on their possible effects on cocoa production, climatological assessment and commentary on pod counts, etc.

Premium clients can organise regular one-to-one exchanges with the science team to further explore and understand these variables and can have access anytime to an entire suite of up-to-date, customised agro-climate analyses tailored to your needs.

Boost your knowledge

Our reports are unique on the market. The information you receive in each report will help you gain an edge on how the most important climate variables are affecting the current production cycle of West African cocoa crops.

What we do

About Us

Our services can be divided into two distinct categories:

1. Producer services, aimed at those involved in managing the production of cocoa – from farmers and extension workers all the way up the supply chain to organizations and companies that want to improve farmer sustainability and the local environment; and

2. Trader services, aimed at professionals in the trading and purchasing fields, who benefit from getting a clearer picture on how cocoa production is unfolding and how the future production is being affected by current weather and climate variables.

How it Works

How it Works

The Research Department

Key Elements

Our team uses its scientific insight to combine up-to-date information gathered from field reports with our in-house climate analyses in order to provide in-depth commentary on the crop development.

01

Monitoring

We monitor a full suite of climate variables on multiple time scales, including precipitation, air humidity, temperature, soil moisture, surface pressure patterns and wind velocity.

We combine these to create research-based agro-climatic indices which we use to produce Hydric Stress reports, Black Pod Risk alerts and our cocoa-specific Harmattan index that monitors how production and plant development is being affected.

We also carry out year-round monitoring of ENSO and ITF movements.

02

Forecasting

Our scientific team combines simulation data from the world’s major multi-model seasonal prediction systems and analyzes it to distill the robust signals for the future evolution of precipitation, temperature and harmattan, on a monthly time scale.

We use these findings to then analyze the effects of the climate evolution on the cacao plant development and production.

03

Field Report Analysis

Our team uses its scientific insight to combine up-to-date information gathered from field reports with our in-house climate analyses in order to provide in-depth commentary on the crop development.

Our trusted collaborators

We are also proud to participate in large-scale international research efforts dedicated to a sustainable cocoa production:
